Gateway - County

At today’s school board meeting, Bruce Duncan, foreman of the local county road crew, was awarded the Entiat School District’s Gateway to Excellence Award.

Duncan and his crew were recognized for their many years of dedicated service in maintaining safe travel conditions on county roads including clearing snow, sanding roads, removing fallen trees and rocks, and ensuring routes, especially the upriver route, remain accessible throughout the year. Superintendent Greg Whitmore commended the team for consistently going above and beyond, noting their commitment to student safety, including plowing roads in challenging conditions and providing a lead vehicle for upriver bus routes during hazardous weather.

“Whether it’s responding to a winter storm, clearing debris, or helping maintain clear communication, Bruce and his crew—and the many county team members who came before them—have played a critical role in keeping our students and drivers safe,” Whitmore said.

Duncan accepted the award on behalf of his crew, who were, fittingly, out grading roads at the time of the presentation.
