Entiat School District Welcomes Joanne Johanson as MS/HS Spanish/Multilingual/ELL Teacher
Entiat, WA — The Entiat School District is pleased to announce the hiring of Joanne Johanson as the new MS/HS Spanish/Multilingual/ELL Teacher for the upcoming school year. Ms. Johanson brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to serving multilingual learners in public education.
With more than a decade of teaching experience, Ms. Johanson most recently served as the Multilingual Learner (ML) Teacher at Eastmont High School, a role she held for 11 years. There, she supported a diverse population of English language learners—working with students whose first languages include Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, and Ukrainian. Her instruction spanned from newcomer students to advanced long-term English learners.
Ms. Johanson holds a Master of Arts in English Language Learning/ESL and a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a minor in English as a Second Language, both from Central Washington University. She is certified in K–8 General Education, K–12 English as a Second Language, and 9–12 English Language Arts. A lifelong learner of the Spanish language, she studied Spanish throughout high school and college.
Her extensive background includes elementary and high school teaching, mentoring in adult education, tutoring across grade levels, and numerous leadership roles within the community. In addition to her classroom expertise, Ms. Johanson has coached several school tennis teams and led extracurricular programs such as Knowledge Bowl and children’s worship initiatives.
